ESSAY CONTEST

Topic for the 2023-2024 school year is: “Optimism: How it connects us”

The Essay Contest is sponsored by our club and gives young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country or a more historical perspective. In additional to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship!

The Sawnee-Cumming Optimist Club sponsors Forsyth County’s Optimist International Essay Contest. Our local winner is invited to a club meeting where the student and his parents and teacher are scheduled to be our guests.

We take pride in giving young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. We are pleased to have the students from Cornerstone Schools, North Forsyth, Forsyth Central and South Forsyth High Schools participate in this contest plus the addition of Lambert High School joining this year. An estimated 500 students will participate in this opportunity.
